All About Sutton
Located about one hour north of Toronto, the Village of Sutton is in the Town of Georgina and has a population of just over 6,000 people. Nestled along Lake Ontario, the Village of Sutton is situated around the Black River that runs along the edge of the village.
True to its history, it was first settled in 1821 when James O’Brien Bourchier built saw and grist mills there. Originally names Bourchier’s Mills and renamed Sutton West in 1885, the village is bound by Highway 48 to the south, Lake Simcoe to the north, Black River along the east and over just west of Dalton Road.

There is a one-room school house, general store, train station, blacksmith shop, an apothecary and a log house. A large archive housed here includes family documents, land records, photos and scrapbooks. Pioneer Village holds tours, camps, workshops, and other events throughout the year.
Beaches and golf courses
The Village of Sutton has beautiful beaches along the shores of Lake Simcoe. The long summer days are enjoyed by many at De La Salle Park, Holmes Point Park, Jackson's Point and Bonnie Park, North Gwillimbury Park, Willow Beach Conservation Area, Willow Wharf and at Young's Harbour.
The Sutton Fair and Horse Show
The Sutton Fair and Horse Show is an annual event that takes place at the fairgrounds located near the Sutton arena. The four-day event on the second weekend in August is put on by the Sutton Agricultural Society. The Sutton Fair is held at the Sutton Fair Grounds where there are two pavilions, three horse rings, a race track, and an outdoor stage. The Fair’s events include horse and livestock competitions, craft exhibits, truck and tractor pull, a dog show, a demolition derby and the World’s Finest Midway.
Shopping and dining

Larger shopping malls such as Newmarket’s Upper Canada Mall and more retail hubs are under 30 minutes away.
Getting around Sutton and beyond
The extension of Highway 404 connects Sutton to the rest of the GTA and Toronto and it’s less than 20 minutes from your door. The East Gwillimbury GO Transit station is also less than 20 minutes away, taking you to Union Station in under an hour.
